Cozy Kids

Cozy Kids is a program which originated with our local CAPA office in 2006.   We, at CAPA, are concerned with the rising cost of gas and with the declining job market in our area.   We knew that with our members and our community support, that we could all make a difference.

Many parents and caregivers may be forced to choose between heating their homes and feeding their family.  In an effort to assist these families, we developed the Cozy Kids program.  From  the middle of  October through the middle of  November each year we collect new and lightly used blanket sleepers and distribute them through local agencies (you may also call the CAPA office at 437-3100 to bring items in at other times of the year).  We have local churches and businesses who have graciously agreed to place the collection boxes in their buildings.  Many businesses, local organizations and private donors have contributed generously to this program.  In 2006, we handed out over 800 sleepers to those in need. Together, we all are making a difference.

In an effort to help parents keep their infants warm and safe this winter, CAPA is providing a HALO sleep sack, or wearable blanket, to every newborn at the Hillsdale Community Health Center.  It keeps babies warm without needing loose blankets.  Along with the sleep sack, parents receive information about safe sleep rules.  CAPA wants to help parents to be the best parents they can be!
