Nate English, HHS student-athlete, and Hailey, a Baby Think-It-Over doll Being a dad is a big responsibility! When you’re a dad, you can no longer do what you want, when you want. The baby must become your first priority. When your baby cries and needs attention, you can become frustrated or angry. But don’t ever take it out on your baby. If you feel like you are losing your cool, take a break. Call someone you trust to relieve you for a while, or put the child in a crib or playpen for a few minutes. Shaking a baby, even for a few seconds, can result in cerebral palsy, blindness, paralysis, brain damage, and even death. NEVER SHAKE A BABY! If you need help, call Childhelp at 1-800-4-A-CHILD.
